New Sustainable Servers Designed with Key Components Using Up to 95% Recycled Materials

August 21, 2025 – Giga Computing today announced the official launch of its low-carbon transformation initiative for its server product line. The company is investing in the design and development of sustainable servers that are manufactured using a significant percentage of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, and this includes some finished components that use up to 95% recycled materials. This marks a new green chapter in sustainable IT infrastructure.

Extreme climate events and tightening global environmental regulations are reshaping industrial responsibilities and creating new opportunities for a competitive advantage. As a core component of digital infrastructure, servers have been associated with significant energy demands and carbon emissions. In response to the global push toward reducing the carbon footprint and net zero goals, Giga Computing is taking a proactive approach to become one of the first server manufacturers to adopt a high proportion of recycled materials in the production and design of servers.

Recycled Materials Successfully Integrate into Key Structural Components
Giga Computing’s sustainable server design begins with three major structural components:

  • Air ducts and drive trays: Made with up to 95% PCR PC or PC+ABS plastics, sourced from post-consumer items such as water bottles, wafer carriers, CDs, automotive headlamps, and other electronics
  • Heatsinks: Made with 100% PCR aluminum, primarily sourced from recycled aluminum window frames, bicycle components, and decommissioned heatsinks
  • Chassis components: Made with 20% pre-consumer recycled low-carbon metals

All recycled materials undergo comprehensive testing for industrial-grade durability, thermal conductivity, and reliability to ensure that mass-produced units meet Giga Computing’s quality and performance standards while advancing sustainability goals.

Driving Carbon Savings and Compliance Through Recycled Material Innovation
Working alongside PCR material suppliers, Giga Computing has built a rigorous material tracking and traceability framework that brings measurable and reportable value to customers:

  • Quantifiable Carbon Reduction: Based on 2024 procurement numbers, switching to heatsinks that incorporate recycled materials could reduce more than 160 metric tons of CO₂e annually. When applied across all structural components in manufactured servers, the total carbon reduction could exceed 275.75 metric tons of CO₂e annually, which is equivalent to the offset if you planted and grew 2,758 tree seedings for 10 years.
  • Third-Party Material Certification: The recycled materials used in sustainable servers are certified by credible third-party organizations, enabling customers to cite the data directly in ESG reports and sustainability performance disclosures, enhancing corporate credibility and the brand’s green image.
  • Compliance and Bidding Advantage: As environmental regulations and carbon emission standards have tightened in the United States, Europe, and Japan, the carbon footprint of products and the percentage of recycled materials used have become key thresholds for exports and procurement. Giga Computing’s recycled material innovation supports customers in complying with emerging environmental regulations and EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)

Redefining Server Value: Performance × Sustainability × Compliance
Giga Computing, known for its high-density, high-performance, and modular server designs, is evolving its product philosophy to embrace a trinity of performance, sustainability, and compliance. This initiative marks not just a specification upgrade but a pivotal turning point in the industry's shift toward net-zero goals.

“This is more than a hardware innovation, it’s a declaration of where the server industry is headed,” said Alan Chen, AVP at Giga Computing. “We are transitioning from a traditional hardware supplier to a sustainable strategic partner that enables customers to realize their ESG and carbon neutrality goals.”

Looking ahead, Giga Computing will continue leveraging innovative design thinking and green material integration to deliver next-generation server solutions. The company is committed to working with customers to realize a truly net-zero future and fulfilling its responsibility to both the planet and the industry.
